The Comparison Of Adjectives

 Ada 3 tingkatan kata sifat yaitu:

1. Positive / netral ---> small
2. Comparative / lebih dari pada ---> smaller
3. Superlative / paling ... diantara --->smallest

  Ada beberapa peraturan yang harus diingat:

1. Adjective yang terdiri dari satu suku kata, comparativenya adalah dengan menambahkan "er" pada adjective tersebut.
    Superlativenya adalah dengan menambahkan kata "the" dan "est" setelah adjective tersebut.
Example: Old - older - the oldest
               Young - younger - the youngest
                Hot - Hotter - the hottest

2. Adjective yang terdiri dari 2 suku kata dan tekanan lebih tinggi pada suku ke2, comparativenya adalah dengan menambahkan "er" adjective tersebut.
   Superlativenya adalah menambahkan "the" sebelum adjective tersebut.
Example: Polite - politer - the politest
               Impolite - impoliter - the impolitest

3. Adjective yang terdiri dari 2 suku kata dan berakhiran dengan "er, le, ow, some dan huruf y", maka comparativenya adalah menambahkan "er" pada adjective tersebut.
   Superlativenya menambahkan "the" setelah adjective tersebut dan menambah "est" pada adjective tersebut.
Example: Clever - cleverer - the cleverest
               Simple - simpler - the simplest
               Shallow - shallower - shallowest
               Handsome - hondsomer - the hendsomest
               Lazy - lazier - the laziest

4. Adjective yang terdiri dari 2 suku kata yang tekanan lebih tinggi daripada suku pertama, comparativenya adalah menggunakan kata "more" sebelum adjective tersebut.
  Superlativenya adalah menggunakan kata "the most" sebelum adjective tersebut.
Example: Modern - more modern - the most modern
               Famous - more famous - the most famous
               Modest - more modest - the most modest

5. Adjective yang terdiri dari 3 suku kata atau lebih comparativenya adalah menambahkan "more" sebelum adjective.
  Superlativenya dengan menambahkan "the most" sebelum adjective.
Example: Beautiful - More beautiful - the most beautiful
               Diligent - more diligent - the most diligent
               Dangerous - more dangerous - the most dangerous
               Comfortable - more comfortable - the most comfortable

2. Sick / bad / ill - worse - the worst
3. Far - further - the furthest
4. Little - less- the least
5. Many / much / a lot - more - most
